Share Bandcamp tools across your entire engineering team

The `get_page_data` tool extracts tracklists, pricing, and artist metadata inside VS Code Copilot for anyone on your team. By committing the config to your repository, every developer gets instant access to structured music data via this shared MCP tool. Your team uses these shared tools to build consistent music apps. VS Code Copilot reads the structured metadata from the URL, ensuring everyone works with the same JSON format without manual configuration.

Search and filter independent music in VS Code Copilot

The `search` tool allows VS Code Copilot to query artists, albums, and labels directly from your team's chat panel. Your agent fetches URLs and artwork to help you quickly verify track details during development. The integration lets you filter results by type, making it easy to test search interfaces. VS Code Copilot matches your queries against active Bandcamp profiles to keep your database seeds accurate.

Analyze music trends with VS Code Copilot MCP Server

The `get_new_releases` tool fetches the newest tracks on Bandcamp directly into your editor. VS Code Copilot uses this along with `get_featured` to let your team analyze editorial trends and release schedules. This MCP Server helps your team monitor real-time music metadata. Your agent queries `discover_music` using standard genre tags, allowing your team to test high-volume data ingestion pipelines.

Setup guide

Set up Bandcamp MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Bandcamp MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Bandcamp tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Bandcamp transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
