VS Code Copilot MCP Server for Basecamp
This VS Code Copilot MCP Server lets you commit one configuration file to your repository. Solo developers can configure local tools, but engineering teams need standardized workflows. Every engineer gets immediate access to project tracking without touching their local settings. A new hire clones the repo and opens the editor. Their agent can instantly call `list_projects` and `get_project` to understand what the team is building. You eliminate the entire onboarding scavenger hunt.
Cross-reference tasks with code
This integration pulls exact bug report details into your chat panel. Closing tickets requires knowing exactly what the original bug report said. Jumping between your IDE and a browser tab breaks focus. Type a question about a specific bug. Copilot runs `list_todolists` followed by `list_todos` to grab the reproduction steps. It reads the raw text and suggests the exact code fix based on the current active file.
Sync with product decisions
Connecting your editor to Basecamp chat channels fixes the communication gap. Product managers drop crucial technical updates in chat all the time. Engineers usually miss them because they live in the codebase. Before writing a new database migration, ask Copilot to check recent discussions. It triggers `list_campfire_lines` and `list_messages` to find mentions of schema changes. You avoid building something that got canceled yesterday.
