Debate BugSnag errors with AutoGen

Assign one agent to watch `list_errors` while another evaluates the impact. They discuss the findings and reach a consensus on which bugs require immediate attention. This process filters out noise before you even see a notification. The agents negotiate based on the data retrieved from the server.

Automate BugSnag triage workflows

Use AutoGen to manage the conversation between technical and operational agents. The performance agent calls `get_project_stats` to demand faster resolution times. Each agent has a specific role that dictates how it uses the tools. This structure ensures that every error is handled by the appropriate expert agent.

Negotiate fixes using BugSnag data

Allow your agents to challenge each other's conclusions about `get_error` details. If one agent flags a false positive, the other verifies it against the latest event logs. This adversarial approach catches edge cases that a single agent might miss. Your system converges on the most likely root cause through iterative discussion.

Setup guide

Set up BugSnag MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes BugSnag tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="BugSnag_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent BugSnag data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)
