Collaborative video encoding in AutoGen

Building complex video workflows requires balancing cost and quality. In AutoGen, you can set up a budget agent that reviews costs using `get_account_info` while a quality agent demands high bitrates. They debate the trade-offs before invoking `create_encoding_job`. This collaborative process ensures you never overspend on low-priority renders or sacrifice quality on premium assets.

Multi-agent error handling via MCP Server

When a video render fails, a single agent might get stuck in a loop. With this MCP Server, a supervising agent can monitor progress using `get_encoding_job` while a recovery agent analyzes the failure. If a bucket issue occurs, the recovery agent calls `list_storage_buckets` to find a backup destination. It then instructs the primary agent to restart the job with a new destination, resolving issues without human intervention.

Multi-agent template negotiation

Selecting the right application profile can be tricky. Your coordinator agent can call `list_apps` and `get_app` to identify the correct target environment. Meanwhile, a configuration specialist agent queries `list_templates` and `get_template` to find the exact encoding specs. They cross-reference their findings to choose the optimal setup before kicking off the run.

Setup guide

Set up ByteNite MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes ByteNite tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="ByteNite_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent ByteNite data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about ByteNite MCP in AutoGen

Install `autogen-ext[mcp]` and use the `mcp_server_tools` adapter with your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass the resulting tool list directly into your `AssistantAgent` constructor.
Yes, one agent can initiate the job using `create_encoding_job` while another agent polls `get_encoding_job` to track progress and report back to the group.
The Vinkius MCP adapter automatically translates the JSON schemas of tools like `list_templates` into the format AutoGen expects. You don't have to write any manual schema conversion code.
Your agent can call `get_system_info` to retrieve real-time performance and health metrics. This helps the team decide if the infrastructure is ready for a heavy encoding queue.
Your cloud bucket credentials and account details remain fully encrypted. The tools only expose high-level metadata and status updates to your AutoGen agents over an MCP connection, preventing any leaks of sensitive storage keys.
