Automate video jobs inside Google ADK

Bring distributed video processing directly to your Google Cloud ecosystem. This MCP Server lets your Gemini-powered agents trigger and manage encoding tasks. By using `create_encoding_job` alongside your BigQuery datasets, your agent can automatically transcode new video files as soon as they are logged in your database. Gemini's massive context window means the agent can read entire video logs and system outputs. It runs `list_encoding_jobs` to analyze past performance, matching trends to optimize current encoding speeds directly inside your Google ADK pipeline.

Map Google Cloud storage to encoding buckets

Your agent needs to know where your source assets live. By calling `list_storage_buckets`, the agent maps your Google Cloud Storage buckets to ByteNite's distributed network. It ensures files are pulled from and pushed to the exact storage zones you configure. When a new bucket is added, your agent detects it. It uses `get_app` to verify the integration is healthy, then updates its internal mapping so future transcode jobs route to the correct destination without manual configuration.

Read system health and template configurations

Your agent can monitor your MCP Server resources directly to prevent budget overruns. The agent calls `get_system_info` and `get_account_info` to check system health and credit balances. If resources are low, the agent pauses queue dispatching. For format selection, the agent queries `list_templates` and `get_template` to find the exact codec settings. It matches the incoming video specs with the correct template, ensuring optimal compression without manual intervention.

Setup guide

Set up ByteNite MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with ByteNite tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="ByteNite_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to ByteNite tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about ByteNite MCP in Google ADK

Use the `McpToolset` class with your Vinkius HTTP endpoint. Pass this toolset into your `LlmAgent` tools array to give your Gemini models instant access to tools like `create_encoding_job`.
Yes, your agent can call `get_encoding_job` to pull the status of any active transcode. Gemini's long context window allows it to parse complex job parameters and troubleshoot failed runs.
You can pass a filtered list of tool names when defining your `McpToolset`. This prevents the agent from calling administrative actions like `get_account_info` while still allowing it to run transcodes.
Yes, the MCP integration supports both Stdio and HTTP transports. For cloud deployments, running the server over HTTP via Vinkius is the easiest way to connect your Google Cloud agents.
Your video files stay secure in your configured storage buckets, and your API tokens are handled exclusively by Vinkius. Only structured metadata from tools like `get_encoding_job` is passed to the Google ADK agent.
