Check Event Status & Registrations

Your agent can instantly check on any event in your Cvent account. Use `get_event_details` to pull up capacity and status, or `list_active_events` to see what's happening right now. It's a direct line into your event operations. Go deeper by listing participants. The `list_event_attendees` tool gives your agent a manifest of everyone registered for a specific event. You can build logic to cross-reference attendees across multiple events or check registration status on the fly.

Manage Sessions, Speakers, and Venues

Let your agent handle the agenda. It can pull the full schedule with `list_event_sessions` or get speaker bios using `list_event_speakers`. This isn't just reading data; it's giving your agent the context to answer complex questions about your event's content. Planning logistics gets easier. The agent uses `list_available_venues` to see where events can be held. The OpenAI Agents SDK's guardrails ensure the agent only operates on the data you permit, so it can't book a venue, just report on what's available.

Find Events with this MCP Server

Stop manually searching through the Cvent dashboard. Give your agent a query and let it use `search_events_by_filter` to find exactly what you need. It handles the API calls, you just get the results. This Cvent MCP Server also lets your agent list all events with `list_events` or even check account-level settings with `get_account_details`. It's a fast way to give your production agents full read-only context of your entire Cvent setup.

Setup guide

Set up Cvent MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Cvent tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Cvent tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Cvent tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="Cvent Agent",
            instructions="You have access to Cvent tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about Cvent MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

It's automatic. Just pass the Vinkius MCP Server endpoint to the Agent constructor. The SDK handles tool discovery and signature generation, so you can start querying Cvent data right away.
No, this MCP server provides read-only access. Your agent can list attendees, check event status, and search for venues, but it can't create or change records in Cvent.
Use the `list_event_sessions` tool. Your agent can fetch all sessions for a given Cvent event ID, then you can process that data in your Python code to build custom reports or answer user questions about the agenda.
Yes. The `search_events_by_filter` tool is designed for this. You provide a search string to your agent, and it gets back a list of matching Cvent events, complete with their IDs and status.
Vinkius isolates every request in an ephemeral sandbox. Your agent accesses Cvent attendee names and registration status through a proxied, zero-trust connection. The underlying data never leaves the Cvent API boundary and your token is the only key.
