How to Use the DatoCMS MCP in Cline
Cline builds your frontend by fetching live data and managing records directly through this DatoCMS connection.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect DatoCMS MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect DatoCMS to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Direct record manipulation in Cline
Cline uses `create_cms_record` and `patch_cms_record` to write new content straight to your production environment. It skips the middleman and updates your database as it codes. This makes testing UI changes trivial. You tell the agent to update a text field, and it modifies the backend record before verifying the result in your code.
Automated GraphQL fetching in Cline
Point `execute_graphql_cda` at your project to let Cline inspect your content tree. It reads your site's actual data architecture before generating a single line of code. This prevents runtime errors caused by mismatched data shapes. The agent knows exactly what properties exist because it queries the schema directly.
Asset cleanup inside Cline
Use `wipe_media_upload` to let Cline prune unused images from your storage. It validates the request against your media library to ensure you only delete what you intend. Managing your assets is no longer a manual chore. The agent identifies the file, runs the check, and removes the record in one sequence.
