Deep reasoning inside Cursor agent mode

The `deep_reasoning` tool lets your Cursor agent route complex coding problems directly to DeepSeek's chain-of-thought reasoning models via this MCP Server. Instead of guessing, you get the exact step-by-step thinking path before the final code block is written to your active Cursor file by the DeepSeek engine. You can also use `chat_prefix_completion` to guide how the DeepSeek model structures its code output inside your Cursor editor. This keeps your local Cursor coding workflow fast because you don't have to keep fixing the DeepSeek agent's syntax errors.

Track DeepSeek usage directly inside Cursor

The `get_token_usage` tool checks how many DeepSeek API tokens your code generation is eating up directly inside the Cursor terminal. This means you never have to open a browser tab to see if your Cursor agent prompts are bloating your DeepSeek bill. Pair this with `get_balance` and `get_billing_details` to keep tabs on your DeepSeek spend while refactoring in Cursor. Cursor can flag when your DeepSeek budget is running low before you hit a hard API limit during a heavy coding session.

Inspect DeepSeek request history in Cursor

The `list_request_history` tool pulls your exact DeepSeek query history directly into Cursor so you can debug failed API calls. This lets you inspect past DeepSeek prompts and responses without changing your Cursor workspace configuration. Before running a massive codebase refactor, run `check_api_status` inside Cursor to make sure the DeepSeek servers aren't throwing errors. It saves you from waiting on a hung Cursor agent when the DeepSeek API is down.

Setup guide

Set up DeepSeek MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the DeepSeek MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent DeepSeek transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the DeepSeek tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about DeepSeek MCP in Cursor

Create a `.cursor/mcp.json` file in your project root and paste the Vinkius MCP Server connection string for DeepSeek. Once saved, Cursor will automatically load the DeepSeek tools into your active agent session.
Yes, you can tell the Cursor agent to run `chat_completion` to generate clean code blocks using DeepSeek's cheap and fast models. It runs the DeepSeek generation in the background and drops the clean code right into your Cursor editor.
When you ask a complex programming question, Cursor calls the DeepSeek `deep_reasoning` tool. The tool returns the full internal chain of thought, which Cursor displays in your chat panel so you can audit the DeepSeek logic.
Yes, the `get_balance` tool lets you ask your Cursor agent for your current DeepSeek credit status. It queries the DeepSeek API and tells you exactly how many dollars you have left in your account.
Your DeepSeek API keys and code snippets are kept entirely inside the isolated Vinkius sandbox, completely hidden from the Cursor client. The MCP Server acts as an encrypted proxy, passing code chunks to DeepSeek's API endpoints without saving any of your intellectual property.
