How to Use the DeepSeek MCP in Windsurf
Give Cascade direct access to DeepSeek models to chain reasoning steps and build code autonomously in Windsurf.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect DeepSeek MCP to Windsurf
Create your Vinkius account to connect DeepSeek to Windsurf and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Run Deep Reasoning Chaining in Windsurf
The `deep_reasoning` tool lets Cascade pull DeepSeek's raw thinking chain directly into your active Windsurf workspace. Instead of just getting a final code block, Cascade reads the step-by-step logic to plan its next file edits. This means your IDE agent stops guessing how to refactor complex algorithms. It runs `chat_completion` to generate the code, checks the reasoning paths, and writes the files in one autonomous sweep using this custom MCP connection.
Autonomous Budget and Token Monitoring
The `get_balance` tool gives Cascade the ability to check your remaining DeepSeek API credits before launching massive multi-step refactoring jobs. You don't want your agent dying halfway through a codebase migration because of an empty wallet. By calling `get_token_usage` and `get_billing_details`, this MCP Server lets Cascade monitor its own consumption. It can warn you in the Windsurf chat panel if a task is eating too many tokens.
Dynamic Model Selection for Windsurf Cascade
The `list_models` tool allows Cascade to scan available DeepSeek models and switch them on the fly based on the task difficulty. It queries `get_model_details` to match the right context window to your file sizes. If Cascade needs to guide a specific code structure, it invokes `chat_prefix_completion` to pre-fill the initial response tokens. This keeps the autonomous agent on track without manual prompt tweaking.
Set up DeepSeek MCP in Windsurf
Prerequisites
- Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
- Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Open MCP configuration
Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open
~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json. - 2
Add the DeepSeek MCP
Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the
mcpServersobject. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. - 3
Refresh MCPs
Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.
- 4
Verify in Cascade
Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my DeepSeek payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the DeepSeek tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.
