Cline writes code that updates DeskTime automatically

The `mark_task_completed` tool allows Cline to update your DeskTime tracker the moment a feature branch passes tests in VS Code. Cline looks at the local test output, verifies the build, and marks the corresponding DeskTime tracker task as done.

Build dashboards in Cline using real-time employee data

The `list_employees` tool retrieves your complete DeskTime staff list so Cline can build internal team directories or routing systems inside VS Code. Cline reads this data, writes the React components, and connects the DeskTime API endpoints.

Clean up stale DeskTime MCP Server projects via Cline

The `remove_project` tool gives Cline the power to prune old DeskTime workspaces that are no longer active in your VS Code workspace. Cline cross-references your current active repositories and deletes matching DeskTime projects that have been archived.

Common questions about DeskTime MCP in Cline

Cline connects to the server using the Streamable HTTP transport configured in your VS Code settings. It then executes DeskTime tools like `get_company_info` directly within your sidebar.
Yes, Cline runs `create_new_task` to insert items into your DeskTime projects. You can ask it to parse a markdown todo list in VS Code and turn it into active tracking tasks.
You control the permissions in VS Code, but Cline can execute actions like `list_project_tasks` automatically to speed up its DeskTime coding plan.
Open the Cline sidebar, click the MCP icon, and add the DeskTime server via the Remote Servers tab. You can also paste the Vinkius endpoint directly into your `cline_mcp_settings.json` file.
All retrieved DeskTime project details and employee stats are processed locally within your active Cline session. The connection uses ephemeral Vinkius sandboxes, preventing unauthorized exposure of your company's internal metrics.
