How to Use the DeskTime MCP in Cursor
Bring DeskTime tracking data into Cursor to build internal tools and manage project tasks without leaving your code editor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect DeskTime MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect DeskTime to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build dashboards with Cursor and DeskTime
The `get_company_info` and `list_employees` tools feed real organizational structures straight into your editor while you write internal admin panels. Cursor reads the actual JSON response from the API, formatting your frontend components to match the exact data types coming back. Writing mock data wastes time when you need to test table layouts. Agent mode hits the endpoint, grabs live staff records, and injects that payload into your test files or React state initializers.
Sync code repositories to tracking projects
Connecting your codebase to time tracking requires `list_projects` and `get_project_details` to map repository folders to billing codes. You ask the agent to find the matching project ID for the current repo, and it searches the database. Setting up new initiatives happens through `create_project` right from the terminal prompt. A developer starts a new microservice, tells the editor to create a matching bucket, and the MCP Server handles the rest.
Manage tasks through this MCP Server
Your AI client calls `list_project_tasks` to show you what needs building before you even open a file. The agent fetches the active requirements and drops them into your context window as a checklist. Finishing a feature means you trigger `mark_task_completed` alongside your git commit. You write the code, tell the agent to close the related issue, and it updates the external system automatically.
