How to Use the Dev.to (Forem) MCP in Cursor
Generate and edit Dev.to articles using live community data inside your Cursor editor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Dev.to (Forem) MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Dev.to (Forem) to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Edit Forem posts directly inside your Cursor workspace
`update_article` modifies existing Forem posts using the exact markdown files you are editing inside Cursor. Your agent reads your local workspace files and matches them to your remote Dev.to posts. It makes updating technical documentation on Forem as fast as saving a file in Cursor.
Run a local MCP Server to pull live references
`get_article_by_path` pulls any published Dev.to post directly into your Cursor editor context using the username and slug. This Forem MCP Server runs in your local environment or via a remote Vinkius endpoint. Cursor uses the live Forem JSON responses to ensure your code examples match what is actually published on Dev.to.
Retrieve authenticated profile metrics in real time
`get_me` pulls your personal Forem developer profile details directly into the Cursor editor sidebar. Having your Forem profile data accessible means your Cursor agent automatically formats author signatures on new markdown posts. It saves time when managing multiple Dev.to writer accounts in the editor.
