How to Use the DEV.to MCP in Cursor
Turn Cursor into a DEV.to publishing engine. Generate technical tutorials from your actual codebase and push them live.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect DEV.to MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect DEV.to to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Publish DEV.to tutorials directly from Cursor
The `create_article` tool connects Cursor straight to your DEV.to account. You highlight a working function in your editor, ask the agent to write a tutorial explaining it, and the AI publishes the result. No copy-pasting code blocks into a browser window. When you refactor that code later, the documentation stays in sync. You prompt the agent to run `update_article` with the new snippet. Your published articles always reflect the actual state of your codebase.
Inject live platform data into your workspace
Your AI client uses `get_articles` to pull down existing tutorials about the framework you are currently using. If you hit a weird bug, Cursor searches DEV.to for solutions and reads the markdown right in your editor pane. It keeps you from context-switching to a browser. You can also track your own engagement. The agent executes `get_my_published_articles` to check view counts or pulls recent feedback using `get_comments`. You monitor your tech blog without leaving your IDE.
Navigate your DEV.to feed via MCP Server
The `get_followed_tags` tool lets Cursor see exactly what topics you care about. The agent fetches the latest posts matching your interests using `get_latest_articles`. You get a curated technical feed rendered in your chat sidebar. If you find something useful while coding, you save it. Tools like `get_reading_list` let the agent pull your saved posts so you can reference other developers' code while building your own features.
