Map BigQuery Data to Documint via Google ADK

The `create_new_generation` tool feeds enterprise data directly from BigQuery into your Google ADK agent to drive PDF creation. By exposing this tool through the MCP Server, your agent compiles raw database rows into polished PDFs, matching the template layout you specify. To make sure the data matches the template structure, the Google ADK agent runs `get_template_variable_audit` beforehand. This aligns BigQuery columns with Documint template variables, preventing database type mismatches from breaking your PDFs.

Search and Configure Templates with Google ADK

The `list_documint_templates` tool lets Gemini's long-context reasoning scan your template library to find the exact contract or invoice needed. Your Google ADK agent calls `search_documint_templates` to locate layouts matching specific customer files. After finding the layout, the agent executes `get_template_configuration` to parse the required variables. This lets Gemini map complex, multi-page data inputs to the correct PDF fields without manual configuration.

Monitor PDF Generation Pipelines in Google Cloud

The `list_latest_doc_generations` tool tracks your document production directly through your enterprise agent pipelines. The MCP setup lets the agent verify that your critical customer PDFs are rendered and ready for distribution. If a rendering run hits a snag, the agent uses `list_failed_doc_generations` to isolate the issue. This allows your Google ADK workflows to flag bad data payloads and alert your engineering team through Google Cloud Logging.

Setup guide

Set up Documint MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Documint tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Documint_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Documint tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Documint MCP in Google ADK

Install `google-adk` and set up the toolset using your MCP Server HTTP URL. Pass this toolset into the `tools` parameter of your `LlmAgent` to instantly expose the document generation tools to Gemini.
Yes, you can restrict access by passing a list of allowed tool names to your `McpToolset` configuration. This prevents Gemini from calling administrative tools like `get_documint_account_metadata` if you only want it generating files.
Gemini's massive context window easily processes large data structures, allowing your Google ADK agent to map thousands of rows of data into `create_new_generation` without hitting token limits.
Yes, your agent can call `get_documint_account_metadata` to retrieve your current document counts and plan details, keeping your automated pipelines aware of your billing constraints.
Your sensitive template variables and generated PDF URLs are processed strictly in transit. The Vinkius MCP sandbox executes each tool call in an isolated V8 container, ensuring no customer data is cached or exposed.
