Consensus-based DocuSign decisions

Deploy a team of agents to handle your DocuSign requirements. One agent can propose using `send_envelope` while another validates the recipient list against your internal database. They deliberate until they agree on the correct action. This prevents human errors like sending contracts to the wrong person or using the wrong template.

Safe DocuSign envelope management

Add a security agent to your AutoGen workflow to monitor for sensitive document exposure. It can check the status of envelopes using `get_envelope` before any sensitive URLs are shared. If the security agent flags a risk, it forces the team to pause and re-evaluate. You get a layer of automated oversight that keeps your legal compliance intact.

Automated DocuSign error remediation

Let your agents handle the lifecycle of a contract, including errors. If a signing fails, an agent can call `void_envelope` and report the reason back to your team. This automated cleanup keeps your DocuSign account organized. You spend less time manually fixing broken envelopes and more time reviewing final agreements.

Setup guide

Set up DocuSign MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes DocuSign tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="DocuSign_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent DocuSign data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about DocuSign MCP in AutoGen

Yes. That's the point. You might have a compliance agent that challenges a draft sent by your operations agent, forcing a revision before the document is sent.
You use the MCP adapter to pass the tool definitions to your AssistantAgents. The agents then negotiate who is authorized to call `send_envelope` based on your setup.
Yes. The conversation history logs every tool call. You can see exactly which agent initiated a `get_signing_url` and why they decided to do it.
The MCP server acts as a gatekeeper. Only the agents you explicitly grant access to can execute tools, and all actions are performed using your secure, isolated endpoint token.
Agents only see the metadata required to complete their assigned task. You can restrict the scope of what each agent knows, ensuring sensitive recipient info stays private.
