Safe EventTemple MCP Server operations

The EventTemple MCP Server exposes your venue's calendar directly to the OpenAI Agents SDK. When your sales agent needs to check available dates, it calls `list_bookings` and `list_events` to pull real-time availability without hallucinating ghost events. Because you're building a production system, OpenAI's built-in guardrails matter here. If an agent tries to execute `list_tasks` and reassign a banquet coordinator's workload, the framework validates the action before execution. You get full tracing in the dashboard to see exactly which contact records your agent pulled via `get_contact`.

Route billing and CRM lookups

Hospitality sales requires different contexts for different tasks. You might have one agent handling customer outreach and another dedicated to payment collection. The first uses `list_accounts` and `list_contacts` to find catering leads. When a contract gets signed, the framework hands the session over to the billing agent. That agent runs `list_invoices` to confirm deposits are paid before finalizing the reservation details through `get_booking`. The handoff keeps your logic clean.

Discover hospitality tools automatically

You don't write manual API wrappers for this integration. Pass the server endpoint to the agent constructor, and the SDK automatically discovers all nine EventTemple operations. Set cacheToolsList to true, and your agent instantly knows how to format requests for `get_event` or `list_accounts`. It reads the schema, understands the required parameters, and starts working through your venue pipeline immediately.

Setup guide

Set up EventTemple MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all EventTemple tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives EventTemple tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate EventTemple tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="EventTemple Agent",
            instructions="You have access to EventTemple tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about EventTemple MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Install openai-agents via pip. Initialize MCPServerStreamableHttp with your endpoint parameters, then pass it as mcp_servers=[server] to your Agent constructor.
Yes. The agent uses `get_event` to pull specific details for a single gathering. It can also run `list_events` to see the entire day's schedule across all your venue spaces.
Full tracing happens automatically in your OpenAI dashboard. Every time the agent calls `get_booking` or `get_contact`, the request and response payload get logged for auditing.
The server handles standard pagination, but you should configure retry logic in your Python code. If your agent calls `list_invoices` too aggressively, the SDK will catch the HTTP errors.
This integration reads sensitive hospitality data, specifically client contact information and financial invoices. Vinkius runs the MCP Server in an ephemeral V8 Isolate Sandbox, meaning your API tokens and payload data disappear the moment the request finishes.
