Draft and revise documents natively

The `create_note` tool lets an AutoGen agent draft a document and push it straight to your account. The note syncs immediately, making it visible on your phone or desktop. You can assign one agent to write the draft and another to review it. If the reviewer finds errors, it calls `update_note` to push corrections, incrementing the update sequence number natively.

Monitor quotas via the MCP Server

The `get_user` tool pulls profile information and quota limits for the authenticated account. A supervisor agent monitors this data to ensure the team does not hit API rate limits. If the quota looks tight, the supervisor can instruct the worker agents to slow down their requests. This keeps long-running debates from crashing the MCP Server connection.

Debate taxonomy and structure

The `list_tags` tool retrieves your existing organization system. Agents debate which tags apply to a new document before attaching them. If a dedicated space is needed for a new project, an agent fires `create_notebook`. It grabs the new notebook GUID and shares it with the rest of the swarm so they know where to store their work.

Setup guide

Set up Evernote MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Evernote tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Evernote_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Evernote data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Evernote MCP in AutoGen

Use mcp_server_tools with StreamableHttpServerParams. Pass the resulting tool list into your AssistantAgent constructor.
Yes. Once you register the tools, any agent in the conversation can call them to read or write notes.
Only if an agent explicitly calls update_note with the correct GUID. You can restrict write access by filtering the allowed tools.
They use search_notes with standard query syntax. The MCP server returns metadata, and they follow up with get_note for the full text.
The server handles your structural metadata and text content. Authentication is completely decoupled from the runtime, meaning your developer tokens never touch the client application directly.
