Cline automates your Fly.io machine lifecycle

Cline uses `list_machines` and `start_machine` to keep your services running perfectly. It identifies stopped nodes and brings them back online without you typing a single command. This loop ensures your infrastructure matches your desired state. If a machine crashes, Cline detects the failure and attempts a restart immediately.

Rapid diagnostics with Cline and exec_machine

Execute shell commands directly on your remote machines using `exec_machine`. Cline captures the output, allowing you to debug live issues in your production environment. It treats remote nodes like local files. You can run migrations or check logs and see the results instantly in your output window.

Manage stateful apps on Fly.io via Cline

Cline inventories your infrastructure with `list_apps` and `list_volumes`. It ensures your persistent storage is correctly mapped to your active compute nodes. By keeping track of volume IDs and machine states, it prevents accidental data loss. You can verify your setup before making any changes.

Common questions about Fly.io MCP in Cline

Open the Cline sidebar and navigate to the MCP Servers icon. You can use the Marketplace tab to add it or input the server URL directly.
Absolutely. Cline uses `create_machine` to add capacity when you tell it to scale. It handles the provisioning process from start to finish.
Your connection is encrypted. Cline uses a dedicated endpoint token to interact with the API, keeping your sensitive infrastructure credentials secure.
It does. Using `get_app`, Cline pulls your network ranges and region assignments. This helps you understand where your infrastructure is globally distributed.
Security is strict. This server only accesses machine states, volume IDs, and app configuration strings; your actual application data remains untouched.
