Collaborative GitScrum management

Assign one agent to research project velocity using `project_stats` while another agent prepares task updates. They work in tandem, sharing context to make better decisions. This is how you scale board management. You define the roles, and the agents coordinate using the tools provided to them.

Specialized agent roles for tasks

Give your moderator agent access to `list_tasks` and `list_workflows` to monitor project health. It can flag issues before they become bottlenecks in your sprint. Your agents specialize in their tasks. One tracks the work, one reports the stats, and one handles the admin work.

Automated operations at scale

Run agents in a loop to keep your GitScrum environment clean. They can sweep for stale tasks using `list_tasks` and archive them without you lifting a finger. It removes the friction of manual cleanup. Your agents handle the routine maintenance, leaving you to focus on high-level strategy.

Setup guide

Set up GitScrum MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke GitScrum tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="GitScrum Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze GitScrum data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct GitScrum access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent GitScrum transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about GitScrum MCP in CrewAI

Pass the server URL directly into your agent's MCP configuration list. The crew will gain access to the tools based on the roles you assign.
Yes, CrewAI uses shared memory. If one agent retrieves a task via `get_task`, other agents in the crew can reference that data in their own steps.
The server uses a zero-trust model. Your task information is scoped to your session and is never persisted, keeping your board data locked down.
You can. By giving an agent access to `workspace_stats`, it can generate periodic reports or trigger alerts when project metrics fall outside your range.
Use the tool filter in your MCP server setup. You can restrict the crew to read-only tools like `get_project` or `list_projects` for specific agents.
