Write code with live security context in Cursor

This MCP Server fetches live data using `list_targets` and injects it directly into your active Cursor workspace. Your agent can inspect active assets and write automated scripts to parse your attack surface without you copy-pasting a single JSON response.

Inline vulnerability and technology checks

The editor runs `list_issues` and `list_technologies` directly in your workspace to check for active vulnerabilities while you write configuration files. By calling `get_issue` right from the chat sidebar, you can read the exact vulnerability description and fix the code before pushing it to main.

Automated target onboarding and scan triggers

Cursor calls `add_target` to register a new staging environment the second your deployment script finishes running using this MCP configuration. Once registered, the agent can run `trigger_scan` and poll `list_scans` to ensure your new infrastructure doesn't expose unexpected services before it goes live.

Setup guide

Set up Halo Security MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Halo Security MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Halo Security transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Halo Security tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Halo Security MCP in Cursor

Add the server to your `.cursor/mcp.json` file at the root of your project or in your global settings. Cursor will automatically detect the new tools and make them available in Agent mode.
Yes, when you use Agent mode, Cursor can read your newly written configuration, call `add_target` to register the domain, and then run `trigger_scan` immediately.
Cursor queries `get_security_risk` to pull your overall risk scores. The agent can then format this data into a markdown table directly inside your editor sidebar.
Yes, the agent calls `list_dns_records` to retrieve all active records for your targets. This lets you quickly verify MX, TXT, and CNAME configurations without leaving your workspace.
Your DNS records and detected technology lists are processed in memory within the Vinkius secure sandbox. No scan history or target configuration is ever cached or written to persistent storage.
