Chain pipeline actions in Windsurf

Cascade reads your current project state and triggers `execute_pipeline` to deploy changes. It chains multiple steps together automatically. You don't have to babysit the process. Cascade runs the sequence and confirms the status via `get_execution_status` while you keep coding.

Audit infrastructure from the IDE

Stop switching tabs to check logs. Use `get_audit_logs` to see exactly what changed in your environment records. Windsurf pulls this data directly into your editor. You can cross-reference `list_pipelines` against your local code before merging.

Manage secrets and services locally

The Harness MCP Server exposes `list_secrets` so you can verify configuration without leaving the terminal. Cascade handles the discovery of `list_services` and `list_environments` for you. It maps your local work to the correct deployment targets.

Setup guide

Set up Harness MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Harness MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Harness payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Harness tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Harness MCP in Windsurf

Add the server config to your `mcp_config.json` file. Once you refresh the MCP panel, Cascade gains the ability to call any of the 11 tools.
Yes. The server allows your agent to query `list_pipelines` and `get_pipeline` to inspect YAML definitions. It turns your IDE into a control plane.
It does. You can list projects and environments to ensure your agent targets the right infrastructure. It keeps your deployment context accurate.
The `list_secrets` tool reports the names of configured secrets. It never exposes the raw values, keeping your credential environment secure.
Your pipeline execution status and audit logs stay within your local environment. We only bridge the connection to your specific API endpoint.
