Connect iNaturalist MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect iNaturalist to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Inject live biodiversity data into your Cursor code
When you write your app in Cursor, this MCP Server lets your agent use `search_observations` to pull live species sightings directly into your active file. Stop writing code against stale mock data or hardcoded stubs. You get raw, real-world data payloads immediately. You can build and test your data pipelines using actual biological records. The agent runs `get_observation` to fetch real payloads so you can map out JSON structures with absolute certainty.
Build accurate taxonomic validation tools
This MCP Server lets your agent invoke `search_taxa` and `autocomplete_taxa` to verify scientific names while you write your code. Writing applications that handle biological names requires strict validation. This setup prevents taxonomic errors before they reach your database. Your agent can write unit tests using real taxonomic trees fetched via `get_taxon`. This means your validation logic matches the actual biological registry used by professional scientists.
Analyze community data trends in real time
Your agent uses `get_species_counts` to pull real-time distribution numbers. If you are building a conservation dashboard, you need to know what's happening on the ground without leaving your editor. It can also query `get_projects` or pull user-specific data using `get_observations_by_user`. This gives you immediate access to community-curated datasets for your development.
