Connect Commits to Cards

Cline bridges the gap between your editor and your project board. Tell it to fix a bug, and it does more than just write code. It can start by using `get_task_details` to pull the requirements and acceptance criteria directly into your workspace. Once you approve the code, Cline can use `update_task_details` to automatically add a comment to the KanbanTool card with the commit hash and then move it to the 'Ready for Review' column. Your board stays perfectly in sync with your repository, without you doing it manually.

Run Batch Operations with Cline

Your AI agent is perfect for cleaning up the board. Just tell Cline, "Find every task on the 'Mobile App' board in the 'Done' column and archive them." It gets the job done without you clicking a single button. Cline will execute a sequence: `list_board_tasks` to get the card IDs, then loop through each one to call `archive_task_card`. This lets you perform bulk administrative actions on your KanbanTool boards with a single, plain-English command.

Scaffold Features and Tickets Together

Kick off new work in a single step. When you ask Cline to "Scaffold the new API endpoint for user profiles," it doesn't just create the boilerplate code and file structure. It also talks to your project management tools. After creating the local files, Cline can call `create_task_card` multiple times to populate your KanbanTool board with tickets for implementation, testing, and documentation. The project board reflects the new work the moment it begins.

Common questions about KanbanTool MCP in Cline

Yes. You can instruct Cline to perform a sequence of actions. After it stages a commit for you, you can tell it to use `update_task_details` to add the commit message to the related KanbanTool card.
Cline acts as your agent. You can ask it to `list_board_tasks` to see your current work, `get_task_details` to pull up specs, and `update_task_details` to post an update, all from the chat panel without leaving your editor.
Absolutely. Tell Cline to create cards for frontend, backend, and QA. It will call the `create_task_card` tool three times, populating your board instantly. This is a core strength of using an autonomous agent with this MCP server.
Go to the Cline sidebar and click the MCP Servers icon. You can find KanbanTool in the Marketplace for a one-click install, or add the Vinkius URL directly in the 'Remote Servers' tab.
Cline only requests the specific data it needs for a given tool call, like a list of board names from `list_boards` or user info from `get_user_profile`. Your Vinkius token defines access rights, and every operation is isolated and temporary.
