Run Complex Inventory Analysis

Use a Gemini agent to analyze sales history in BigQuery. When it identifies a trend, it can immediately query your Katana instance using `get_inventory_by_variant` to check current stock levels for the relevant products. Gemini's long context means the agent can hold the entire `list_products` and `list_materials` manifests in memory. This allows it to reason about complex supply chain dependencies before deciding to act.

Build Google Cloud-Native ERP Bots

This MCP server connects your Katana account to the rest of your Google Cloud stack. An agent running on Vertex AI can be triggered by a Pub/Sub message, fetch order details with `get_sales_order`, and then log the results to Cloud Logging. You have fine-grained control. Use the `tool_names` filter in the `McpToolset` to expose only specific tools, like `list_sales_orders`, to an auditor agent, while giving a fulfillment agent access to everything.

A Katana MCP Server for Google Cloud

The real power here is combining data sources. Your Google ADK agent can pull customer cohorts from BigQuery, then use `list_customers` in Katana to see their order history. This makes sophisticated workflows possible. For example, an agent could find all open orders with `list_sales_orders`, check the status of linked `list_manufacturing_orders`, and write a consolidated status report back to a BigQuery table.

Setup guide

Set up Katana MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Katana tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Katana_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Katana tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Katana MCP in Google ADK

Your Gemini agent, configured with the Google ADK, would use tools like `list_customers` and `list_products` to gather the required details. It would then execute the `create_sales_order` tool with the correct data.
Yes. When you give the agent the `list_manufacturing_orders` tool, it can pull a list of all current and past manufacturing orders directly from your Katana account.
In your Python code, import `McpToolset` from the Google ADK. You point it to this MCP server's URL, then pass that toolset to your agent. The agent then has access to all the Katana tools.
No. Vinkius hosts and manages the Katana MCP server. You just need to install the Google ADK and point your agent to the provided URL with your token.
Your manufacturing order and supplier data flows through a Vinkius-managed endpoint on ephemeral infrastructure. The Google ADK framework handles the connection, and you control data residency and processing rules within your own Google Cloud project.
