Autonomous discovery in Windsurf
Cascade uses `search` and `search_format` to identify relevant historical assets based on your natural language goals. It filters through millions of records to find exactly what you need for your project. Once the agent identifies a target, it automatically calls `get_item` to pull bibliographic details. You don't have to manually initiate each request; the agent handles the discovery flow.
Direct resource access
After pinpointing a file, the server uses `get_resource` and `get_text_service` to pull raw content or OCR data. This lets you analyze historical manuscripts directly inside your editor. Windsurf chains these actions to ensure the data you see is accurate and complete. It moves from a broad query to a specific document in seconds.
Visual asset retrieval
You can request image metadata using `get_image_info` for high-resolution assets found in the archive. The server provides the necessary IIIF data to render or analyze these files within your workspace. This MCP Server allows Cascade to manage the entire lifecycle of an asset, from initial search to final metadata verification. It simplifies how you interact with massive archival datasets.
