Organize bookmarks in real-time

Stop leaving fifty tabs open because you might need them later. Let your AI client sort your reading list with this MCP server. It uses `create_link` and `bulk_update_links` to file URLs into the right collections before your browser crashes from memory bloat. You can list your existing folders with `list_collections` or build new ones using `create_collection`. No more manual dragging or tagging. It happens while you chat.

Offline page preservation with this MCP Server

Web pages disappear. This server stops that by letting Claude trigger `archive_link` to grab a snapshot of any URL. You get a permanent copy stored right on your self-hosted instance. If you have local assets or HTML files, use `upload_standalone_archive` to push them straight to your default collection. Retrieve them anytime using `get_archive` without leaving the desktop app.

Direct page highlights

Reading long articles is tedious. Your agent can read the page and call `create_highlight` to lock down the exact quotes you care about. Pull those notes back up with `get_link_highlights` whenever you need to reference them. It turns your bookmark manager into an active research database.

Common questions about Linkwarden MCP in Claude Desktop

Create or edit your `claude_desktop_config.json` file. Add the server details under your MCP configuration with your API token. Restart the desktop app and look for the hammer icon in your chat window.
Yes. The agent uses `list_collections` and `get_collection` to read your setup. It can modify or create folders based on your direct instructions in the chat.
You can feed your exported HTML file to the agent. It will parse the file and run `upload_standalone_archive` or `create_link` to rebuild your library.
Ask your agent to fetch them. It calls `get_archive` or grabs a short-lived URL with `get_preserved_token` so you can read the saved copy.
Your bookmark URLs, tags, and archived HTML files stay strictly on your Linkwarden instance. The connection runs locally through your machine. No external third-party servers ever see your raw credentials or database contents.
