Debate broadcast triggers in AutoGen

Your agents can discuss whether a notification is necessary using `create_broadcast`. One agent flags an issue, and another validates the need for an alert before sending. This consensus-based approach prevents unnecessary noise. The agents ensure only critical messages hit your users.

Negotiate alert delivery via get_broadcast

The `get_broadcast` tool allows agents to check the status of pending alerts during their deliberations. If a delivery hangs, the agents can decide on a retry strategy. This keeps your communication logic dynamic. Your agents adjust their behavior based on the live feedback from the notification system.

Review alert logs with list_broadcasts

Use `list_broadcasts` to let your agents audit past performance. They can analyze historical patterns to suggest improvements to your notification timing or content. This turns your notification history into a resource for the agents. They learn from past broadcasts to optimize future delivery.

Setup guide

Set up MagicBell MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes MagicBell tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="MagicBell_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent MagicBell data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about MagicBell MCP in AutoGen

Use the MCP tool adapter to inject the tools into your agent constructor. This allows your agents to call notification functions during their conversations.
Yes. Agents can debate the content or timing of a broadcast before calling the `create_broadcast` tool. This ensures your notifications are vetted by your agent team.
Agents can catch API errors and discuss how to proceed. They might decide to retry the broadcast or log the failure for human review.
It does. Because the tools are standard MCP, any agent in your AutoGen group can invoke them. This allows for complex notification workflows involving multiple specialized agents.
The MCP Server enforces strict access controls on every tool call. Your notification payloads are processed in an isolated sandbox, ensuring your alert data remains secure.
