Build automation scripts with Cursor MCP Server tools
The `create_new_work_order` tool lets you generate and test real maintenance tickets while writing code in Cursor. The editor's native MCP integration calls this tool directly to verify that your automated maintenance scripts actually create valid records. Instead of writing code against mock payloads, you can write active scripts that trigger actual MaintainX work orders. This ensures your custom dispatch logic works perfectly before you commit it.
Inspect live asset metadata inside Cursor
The `get_asset_details` tool pulls real-time hardware specs and maintenance history directly into your Cursor editor. When building custom dashboards, your AI agent uses this tool to understand the exact JSON structure of your physical equipment. You can also run `list_maintenance_assets` to check how your physical database represents equipment hierarchies. It saves you from constant context switching between your code editor and the API docs.
Track ticket lifecycles directly within Cursor
The `get_work_order_details` tool retrieves the complete history and current state of any specific maintenance ticket. Your Cursor agent uses this MCP tool to write and debug custom status-tracking features or notification triggers. When you need to test state transitions, use `update_work_order_status` to toggle tickets between progress states. This lets you inspect how your code handles live webhook events or status updates.
