How to Use the Metaplane MCP in Cursor
Write clean code that responds to live data pipeline incidents using this MCP Server for Cursor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Metaplane MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Metaplane to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Debug data pipeline failures during development
The Metaplane integration allows you to query active incidents while writing your transformation code. When a dbt run fails, you ask Cursor in Agent mode to execute `list_incidents` to see if schema drift broke the build. The agent pulls the exact failed column details. You can immediately patch the SQL file in your editor, write a migration, and push the fix without switching context.
Generate test suites with the Metaplane MCP Server
This MCP Server helps you write integration tests based on your actual production metrics. By calling `get_monitor_runs`, the agent inspects historical data patterns and writes assertions that match real-world distributions. Instead of guessing standard deviations or row count limits, your editor drafts mock test cases using the parameters returned by `get_monitor`. You get accurate tests that reflect actual warehouse activity.
Map database connections directly in your editor
Inspecting your production data sources is direct when you run `list_data_connections` inside Cursor chat. The editor displays your active databases, warehouses, and BI tools right alongside your configuration files. If you are setting up a new service, ask the agent to run `list_connection_schemas` to verify which tables are exposed. You write your configuration files using verified schema names instead of relying on outdated documentation.
