Standardize team workflows with shared configs

Commit your .vscode/mcp.json to the repo so every developer on your team uses the same Moodle connection. It ensures consistency across your entire engineering organization. Everyone gets access to `list_courses` and `list_users` from day one. You no longer have to worry about individual setup issues or mismatched configurations.

Execute administrative tasks in the IDE

Use `create_users` and `enrol_users` to manage student accounts without leaving VS Code. It bridges the gap between your code and your LMS. This is built for scale. By using the MCP Server, your team can automate routine chores that usually take hours of manual work in the admin dashboard.

Debug integrations with live data

Use `get_user_grades` or `list_assignments` to inspect data while you write your integration logic. It provides the visibility you need to fix issues faster. Your agent can now trace a student's path through the system. This makes it much easier to verify that your code handles real-world scenarios correctly.

Setup guide

Set up Moodle MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Moodle MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Moodle tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Moodle transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.
