Debate logistics with AutoGen agents

Configure one agent to use `create_booking` and another to monitor status via `list_bookings`. They can discuss the best way to handle a surge in orders before taking action. This multi-agent setup prevents hasty dispatch decisions. It forces the system to consider constraints before finalizing any booking in the system.

Negotiated fleet management

Set up a performance agent to query `get_vehicle` data while a security agent checks driver credentials. They negotiate to ensure every vehicle matches the task requirements. This ensures your fleet operates within your safety and efficiency standards. The agents check each other's work to avoid common dispatching mistakes.

Automated consensus on service areas

Use `get_service_area` to provide data for your agents to debate coverage expansion. They reach a conclusion by comparing live API data against your defined business rules. This process eliminates the guesswork in territory management. You get a reasoned decision backed by the data the agents pulled from the server.

Setup guide

Set up MotionTools MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes MotionTools tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="MotionTools_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent MotionTools data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about MotionTools MCP in AutoGen

Use the `mcp_server_tools` helper to inject the endpoints into your AssistantAgent. The adapter handles the schema so your agents can call tools directly in their chat.
Yes, you can share the tool list across multiple agents. Each agent can then propose actions using the logistics tools during the debate.
Vinkius handles all auth. You can define which agents have access to which tools by passing specific subsets of the tool list to different agents in your group chat.
If a call fails, the agent reports the error in the chat. Other agents can then propose a fix or try a different approach based on the failure message.
All agent communication remains within your controlled environment. Only the data you explicitly pass to the tools touches the Vinkius infrastructure.
