Automate dispatch with the MotionTools MCP Server.

The `create_booking` tool lets your agent book delivery runs directly within your Python service. Once a booking drops, you can pull details instantly with `get_booking` to check its status. This setup bypasses manual dispatch queues entirely. Your agent handles the back-and-forth, monitoring the schedule by running `list_bookings` to keep your logistics pipeline moving.

Live driver and vehicle tracking

The `list_drivers` tool gives your agent a clean look at who is currently on the road. You pair this with `get_driver` to pull specific operator records when an order gets delayed or needs reassignment. Fleet tracking requires knowing the gear, not just the operator. Your agent runs `list_vehicles` to scan the fleet and `get_vehicle` to check specific truck specs before assigning heavy cargo.

Control delivery zones and customer records

The `list_service_areas` tool tells your agent exactly where your fleet operates. When an order comes in from a new boundary, the agent checks `get_service_area` to confirm coverage before committing. Customer lookups run just as fast. Your agent calls `list_customers` to verify accounts, matching order histories with active delivery zones without leaving the execution thread.

Setup guide

Set up MotionTools MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all MotionTools tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives MotionTools tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate MotionTools tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="MotionTools Agent",
            instructions="You have access to MotionTools tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about MotionTools MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

You register the MotionTools MCP server using the streamable HTTP transport class. Once added to the agent's server list, the SDK auto-discovers all ten dispatch tools.
Yes. The agent uses `list_bookings` and `get_booking` to poll for status changes. This lets you trigger automated customer notifications the second a driver updates their run.
Your agent calls `list_drivers` to find active operators and cross-references them with `list_vehicles`. The SDK handles this logic locally, keeping fleet assignments accurate without manual intervention.
Use the SDK's built-in guardrails to validate inputs before executing the MCP server's `create_booking` tool. You can write validation logic that checks the payload against active zones from `list_service_areas` first.
All driver records, vehicle specs, and booking payloads run inside a zero-trust V8 sandbox on Vinkius. Your API keys are encrypted at rest, and the agent only accesses the endpoint with a single token.
