Multi-agent Musixmatch verification

The `get_track_lyrics` tool feeds raw text to your researcher agent. A separate critic agent reviews that text to verify claims made in a user's prompt. They argue about the interpretation until they reach a consensus. This prevents single-agent bias. One agent might guess a song's meaning based on the title. The critic forces a call to `get_track_snippet` to prove the actual lyrical content.

Resolve metadata conflicts

The `search_artists` tool returns multiple potential matches for ambiguous names. Your AutoGen agents debate which ID is correct by cross-referencing `get_artist_albums` with the user's original context. You just pass the MCP tool list to the `AssistantAgent` constructor. The `McpToolAdapter` automatically converts the schemas. Your agents start talking to the API immediately.

Automate music research via MCP Server

The `get_top_tracks` tool gives your music-curator agent a baseline of popularity. A contrarian agent then uses `search_tracks` to find obscure B-sides by the same artist. They negotiate a final playlist that balances hits with deep cuts. Building systems like this used to require massive custom orchestration. Now you just define the agent personas and hand them the endpoints.

Setup guide

Set up Musixmatch MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Musixmatch tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Musixmatch_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Musixmatch data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Musixmatch MCP in AutoGen

Install the `autogen-ext[mcp]` package. Use `mcp_server_tools` with your streamable HTTP parameters and pass the list to your agents.
Yes. Your researcher agent can call `get_artist_details` while the critic agent triggers `get_track_details` to cross-check the data.
The framework manages everything. `McpToolAdapter` translates the server's JSON schema into a format the agents understand without manual mapping.
Yes. One agent can execute `match_track_lyrics` and pass the resulting track ID to another agent for further analysis.
The tools only touch public music metadata and search queries. Vinkius processes these requests through an ephemeral gateway, meaning your multi-agent negotiation logs stay completely private and are wiped after execution.
