Process Lyrics with Gemini Context Windows

The `get_track_lyrics` tool dumps the full text of any song into your agent's context. Because Gemini handles millions of tokens, your Google ADK agent can ingest hundreds of track lyrics in a single pass. If you just need a quick hook to verify a match, `get_track_snippet` returns a short preview instead. You feed this text directly into Vertex AI pipelines for sentiment analysis or thematic clustering. The agent matches user queries against the database using `match_track_lyrics`, finding specific songs based on partial phrases they remember.

Map Discographies via the Musixmatch MCP Server

Triggering `search_artists` lets your agent find specific musicians based on string matching. Once you have the artist ID, `get_artist_albums` returns their complete release history. You can then pull specific metadata for each release using `get_track_details` to build out a complete relational map. We designed this to pair with BigQuery. Your agent fetches the raw catalog data via the tools and structures it for insertion into your existing Google Cloud tables. You control exactly which endpoints the agent sees using the optional `tool_names` filter.

Track Global Music Charts

Calling `get_top_tracks` pulls current charting data based on country and genre parameters. Your agent uses this to understand what songs are currently dominating the market. It then runs `get_artist_details` to pull background information on the musicians behind those trending tracks. Integration requires the `google-adk` package. You wrap your server URL in `StreamableHttpServerParameters` and instantiate a `McpToolset`. Pass that toolset to your `LlmAgent` and it immediately understands how to query the music database.

Setup guide

Set up Musixmatch MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Musixmatch tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Musixmatch_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Musixmatch tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Musixmatch MCP in Google ADK

Create an `McpToolset` using `StreamableHttpServerParameters` with your Vinkius URL. Drop that toolset into the `tools` array of your `LlmAgent`.
Yes. Use the `tool_names` filter when setting up the toolset to expose only specific endpoints like `get_top_tracks` or `search_artists`.
The client itself does not throttle requests. You should implement backoff logic in your agent if you plan to hit the lyrics endpoints heavily.
Tell your agent to execute `match_track_lyrics` with the text snippet. It returns the official track ID, which you can then feed into other endpoints.
No. The server only receives the specific search strings and track IDs your agent sends. It has zero access to your BigQuery instances, Vertex AI models, or internal cloud infrastructure.
