How to Use the Nhost MCP in Cursor
Build authentication flows in Cursor by letting your agent test Nhost endpoints live while you write code.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Nhost MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Nhost to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Real Nhost Sessions in Cursor
The `signin_email_password` tool authenticates a user with their credentials while you code. Cursor executes the call and injects the actual API response into your editor context. You stop guessing what the payload looks like. Session management happens automatically. The `refresh_token` tool generates a new JWT access token using a valid refresh token. Your agent maintains the connection, allowing you to trace auth state changes line by line.
Direct File Uploads
The `upload_file` tool pushes a file to a bucket and returns the processed metadata. You ask the editor to upload a test image, and it hands back the exact JSON structure your code needs to parse. Retrieving that data is just as fast. Call `get_file` to download the complete file content, complete with optional image transformation parameters. If you just need a link, `get_file_presigned_url` retrieves a temporary URL.
Instant Account Creation via MCP Server
The `signup_email_password` tool registers a new user account directly from the command palette. Need to test a different flow? The `signin_otp_email` tool initiates email-based one-time password authentication. Managing edge cases takes one prompt. Run `change_email` with an elevated NHOST_JWT credential, or fire a `reset_password` request. When the test finishes, `signout` invalidates refresh tokens and ends the session.
