Key Capabilities

Generate videos from templates

Want to make thousands of unique social ads? First, you check what's available with `list_templates`. Then, you run the whole thing by calling `render_video`, which hands you a render ID. You can then track progress using `get_render_status` until it says 'completed'. It’s pretty straightforward once you see how the IDs link up.

Manage source media assets

Need to upload a new logo or video clip? Use `ingest_media_source`. This either uploads the file or fetches it from an existing location. You can then list everything you've uploaded using `list_hosted_assets`. It gives you full control over every piece of media your project needs before rendering starts.

Retrieve render job files

Once the video is done, how do you get the final assets? You use `list_assets_from_render` and pass it that original job ID. This pulls all the associated media files for you. It’s crucial to run this right after confirming completion via `get_render_status`; otherwise, the file list is just going to be empty.

Common questions about Shotstack MCP in Cline

You first need a template ID from `list_templates`. Then, you loop through your asset list and call `render_video` for each variation. Cline handles the API calls, so it's clean.
After calling `render_video`, you immediately get a render ID. You pass that ID into `get_render_status` in a loop until it returns 'completed'. That’s how you know when your video is ready.
You check the history using `list_recent_renders`. This gives you a quick overview of everything that’s been queued up or finished. It keeps your project organized.
Before rendering, try using `list_ingested_sources`. This tool helps verify the media sources you plan to use and makes sure they are correctly formatted for the template.
This MCP Server manages metadata about video content, including render IDs, asset file details (like names and types), and template structure definitions. It doesn't store raw user credentials.
