Batch Processing Todoist Tasks in the Terminal

For background jobs, you can list every single project using `list_projects`. This is key for running cleanup scripts across your whole account. You then feed those IDs into a loop that calls `list_active_tasks` to check status globally. This makes it ideal for cron jobs or GitHub Actions where you need to process bulk data without any GUI.

Monitoring Todoist Projects with Claude Code MCP Server

Need to log all current project discussions? Use `list_comments` in a shell script. You can write a command that pulls comments for Project A, processes them, and pipes the result into an audit log file. If a task requires maintenance—like changing its owner or status—the server supports calling `update_task_details` directly from your CLI pipeline.

Automated Todoist Task Management

The server makes it simple to manage the lifecycle of tasks in scripts. If a batch process is done, you can use `complete_task`. If something was marked complete but needs re-evaluation, `reopen_task` handles that switch automatically. For setting up new workflows, your script just calls `create_project` and then populates it using `create_task`, leaving zero manual work for you.

Common questions about Todoist MCP in Claude Code

Yes. You can script a full report by running `list_projects` and then calling `get_project_details` for each one, aggregating the data into a single terminal output.
You start with `list_projects` to get all IDs. Then, you write a simple loop that calls other tools—like `get_task_details` or `list_project_sections`—for every single ID returned.
The server provides structured access to task metadata, including project names, associated labels, comments history, and the current completion status of individual tasks.
No. The MCP Server only executes actions based on your provided endpoint token. It writes new records or updates existing ones but doesn't alter the underlying structure of your account.
You run a script that calls `list_active_tasks`. This gives you an immediate dump of all items that are currently pending action in your account.
