Search Plant Data with the Trefle MCP Server
You can search through main plants using `search_plants` or check all species via `search_species`. This makes it easy to find specific flora without knowing its full classification. The server lets you get detailed info on a single plant (`get_plant`) or drill down into the details of a genus (`get_genus`). It’s perfect for agents that need reliable, structured data.
Managing Species and Distribution
Need to update some records? Use `submit_species_correction` if you find bad data, or run the agent through `report_species_error`. You can also list all major zones using `list_distributions`. When tracking flora across regions, call `get_distribution_plants`, filtering by establishment like 'native' to pinpoint exact locations.
Listing and Exploring Botanical Categories
`list_species` gives you a complete rundown of every species and sub-taxa. You can also get an overview of all available genera using `list_genera`. If your job is just to see what's out there, call `list_plants` for a list of main plant types, excluding varieties or subspecies.

Install the SDK
Run

Connect via SSE transport
Use
MCPServerSsewith your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Trefle tools at runtime. - 3
Create your Agent
Pass the MCP to
Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Trefle tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically. - 4
Run the agent
Call
Runner.run(agent, prompt)to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Trefle tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
