Extracting Specific Episode Details

The `get_episode` tool lets you grab all key episode details by ID—name, season/number, air date, summary, and runtime. It’s perfect for scripting checks on a single piece of content. You can also use this data to construct links or logs. If you need the full context of an episode's role in a series, pair `get_episode` with `get_show`.

Retrieving Detailed Person Biographies

When running scripts that require actor background info, use `get_person`. It pulls the person’s name, bio, birthday, and birthplace. Crucially, it also gives external IDs like IMDb and Wikipedia for verification. Need to track a whole career? Run `get_person_cast_credits` to get every show credit, listing the character name, episode count, and whether the role was main or recurring.

Checking Show Metadata and Cast

Start by using `get_show`. This single command delivers the show's core metadata: rating, status (running/ended), summary, genres, and external IDs. It’s a complete data snapshot. To get cast members for that show, run `get_show_cast` against the ID you just retrieved. You'll get every actor's name and character linked to the series.

Common questions about TVMaze MCP in Claude Code

First, use `get_show` to get the ID. Then, run `get_show_cast`. Your terminal pipeline receives every actor’s name and character linked directly to that series.
You must use `get_show_episodes`. This returns season/episode numbers, air dates, summaries, and runtimes. It's reliable for scripting bulk content checks.
Yes, pipe the output of `get_full_schedule` into your script. This dumps every known future episode across multiple networks. Just remember to pass the country code flag.
Yep, use `get_show_crew`. It pulls names, role types (like Director or Writer), and specific credit types for key production staff. This is ideal for building internal documentation.
The server touches structured text data like episode summaries, character names, show descriptions, and air dates. Use this to populate your content database safely.
