Running Bulk Searches with Typesense Cloud and Google ADK

Your agent uses `execute_multi_search` to run multiple queries in one single API call. Instead of making several individual calls, you provide a JSON array of search requests and get all the results back at once. This is critical when your enterprise workflow requires checking data across many different topics or user groups simultaneously.

Monitoring Typesense Cloud Status for Google ADK

The `get_cluster_health` tool checks the operational status of the entire cluster. If you need to confirm if the search service is stable before an agent runs a big query, this gives you that definitive check. It's the first thing your LLM Agent should call to make sure the underlying MCP Server is ready to process requests.

Listing Data Sources with Google ADK and MCP Server

The `list_collections` tool lets your agent see every search collection within the Typesense Cloud cluster. This is how it discovers what data sources are available for searching. Similarly, `list_collection_aliases` shows virtual mappings, helping your agent understand which collections are active even if their names change.

Setup guide

Set up Typesense Cloud MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Typesense Cloud tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Typesense Cloud_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Typesense Cloud tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Typesense Cloud MCP in Google ADK

The MCP Server exposes tools like `execute_multi_search`. Your agent interacts with these tools, calling the specific functions it needs to run searches against your typesense-cloud-mcp cluster.
Yes. The `get_cluster_metrics` tool retrieves usage data and performance statistics for the entire Typesense Cloud setup. This is useful for reporting on how often your agents are querying the system.
You can use `list_collections` to see all available search indices or check `list_collection_aliases` to map out virtual names. These tools are core to understanding the data structure.
You'll need the `list_api_keys` tool. This lets your agent list all active keys configured for the cluster so it can verify credentials before running any searches.
This server manages search metadata, specifically listing collection names, aliases, and API keys. It doesn't touch the raw document content of your searches.
