How to Use the Umbraco MCP in Cursor
Inject live Umbraco data into your code using Cursor’s MCP Server integration.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Umbraco MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Umbraco to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Live Content CRUD in Cursor
Don't write mock data for content. The `get_delivery_content_by_id` tool lets the agent fetch real Umbraco records, and that live JSON drops right into your code block. You can then use it immediately. Want to build a new feature? Use `create_cms_document`. Your AI client executes this through Cursor’s Agent mode, allowing you to write the API call directly while knowing the data will actually populate Umbraco.
Querying Umbraco Content by Filters
The `query_delivery_content` tool lets you filter content items using specific criteria—for example, only fetching 'blogPost' types. This is key for building scoped components that need data from a narrow set of sources. If filtering isn't enough, the general `list_delivery_content` supports pagination via `take` and `skip`, letting you process large batches of Umbraco content without running into limits.
Handling Umbraco Assets in Cursor
The server gives you full visibility with `list_document_types`, so your code knows exactly what schemas exist before it tries to read from them. You'll never guess the structure again. Plus, `list_media_assets` pulls file details directly into your workspace context. This means if your component needs an image path, the agent grabs the correct asset ID for you.
