Researching Congressional History with Windsurf
Cascade finds full details for any bill using the `get_bill_details` tool. This lets you pull everything—sponsors, status, and text—without having to manually run multiple commands. You can also look at historical data by querying congressional sessions via `list_congress_sessions`. Windsurf figures out if a specific year is active or if it needs to check the start/end dates for a given Congress.
Identifying Key Congressional Players
Need to know who's involved? Use `list_congress_members` to pull records on current and past members of the U.S. Congress. You can also check executive or judicial appointments by calling `list_congress_nominations`. If you need a full picture of institutional power, Cascade handles it. It lets you list both congressional committees using `list_congress_committees` and major treaties via `list_congress_treaties`.
Tracking Legislative Changes
Understanding how bills change is tough work. The tool `list_congress_amendments` pulls all the amendments attached to a bill, so you see exactly what was altered and when. This saves hours of digging into archived records. Want to know which general laws are active? Just run `list_congress_bills`. It queries the gov database for bills from either the current or a specific Congress.
