Connect USGS Water Services MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect USGS Water Services to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Write code pulling real-time streamflow
The `get_instantaneous_values` tool lets the AI agent inject actual 15-minute interval data right into your function. You just need to provide filters like a state or site ID. Your generated code won't use mock stubs; it’ll run against live USGS Water Services context.
Build scripts for historical analysis
Need yearly statistics? Use `get_statistics` to generate daily, monthly, or annual data reports. The AI can structure the call and inject the resulting metrics directly where you need it in your project file. This saves time compared to running multiple shell commands manually.
Discover USGS site metadata on the fly
Before writing a single line of data retrieval code, use `get_sites`. You can combine filters (e.g., county and bounding box) to find exactly which monitoring stations you're targeting. The agent uses this live context to ensure your final code is accurate.
