Execute and Manage SQL Queries

The `execute_sql_query` tool runs ANSI SQL against a dataset ID, giving you a query ID right away. You can then track its progress using `get_query_status`. Remember that if the query is done, you pull the results with `get_query_results`, which handles pagination so you don't miss data. Need to stop something? If an SQL task is running too long or gives weird results, fire up `cancel_running_query` immediately. This lets your agent abort any query that isn't behaving. It keeps the whole process clean.

Inspect Mobility Datasets

Start by figuring out what data is available; use `list_mobility_datasets` to see all accessible datasets. Once you pick one, check its structure with `get_dataset_schema`, which shows column definitions and types. Want a quick look? `get_dataset_sample` pulls the first few rows for a rapid preview. For more technical depth, `get_dataset_metadata` retrieves full metadata on that specific dataset ID. You can also list where scheduled data drops land using `list_s3_delivery_folders`.

Handle Data Downloads and Output

When your analysis is complete, you need the data out. The `generate_download_link` tool creates a temporary pre-signed URL for downloading an S3 file directly. This link works for your agent to grab the raw output. If you're working with scheduled drops, use `list_s3_delivery_folders` first to see all available prefixes. After running complex SQL queries, remember that retrieving results happens via `get_query_results`, making sure you handle pagination correctly.

Setup guide

Set up Veraset MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Veraset tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Veraset tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Veraset tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="Veraset Agent",
            instructions="You have access to Veraset tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about Veraset MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

You call the `get_query_status` tool. This checks the current progress of your SQL task and tells you exactly where it stands, whether it's pending or finished.
Veraset handles mobility datasets. Your agent accesses geospatial data and structured information stored within those specific mobility datasets.
Yep. Just call `list_mobility_datasets`. This tells your agent every accessible dataset ID in Veraset, so you know what it can run queries against.
First, make sure the query is done by checking its status. Then, use `get_query_results`. If the data set is in S3, you can also generate a temporary URL with `generate_download_link`.
Veraset manages mobility datasets. The schema includes column definitions and various data types related to movement and location, which your agent can query.
