How to Use the Vultr MCP in Google ADK
Act on Vultr infrastructure using Google ADK's enterprise reasoning models.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Vultr MCP to Google ADK
Create your Vinkius account to connect Vultr to Google ADK and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Resource Inventory
To understand your entire footprint, use the tool `list_bare_metals`. This provides a full list of all bare metal instances managed by Vultr. Need to see what applications are running? The agent runs `list_applications`, giving you an overview of services connected to your account.
Backup Retrieval
Recovery is straightforward. Running the tool `get_backup` allows you to retrieve details on a specific backup record. This confirms what data was saved and when. Furthermore, if you need to see all available backups across your account, the agent uses `list_backups`.
Instance Maintenance
The agent controls instance state directly. You can initiate a restart using `reboot_bare_metal`, or if required, fully reset an OS with `reinstall_bare_metal`. The tool `get_account` also provides essential general account status information. It’s easy to manage the lifecycle of any bare metal instance from within your Google ADK pipeline.
Set up Vultr MCP in Google ADK
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
google-adkpackage (pip install google-adk) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install Google ADK
Run
pip install google-adkto install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via theMcpToolsetclass. - 2
Connect via SSE transport
Use
McpToolset.from_server()withSseServerParamspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. - 3
Create an LlmAgent
Pass the returned
mcp_toolslist directly toLlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required. - 4
Run with any Gemini model
The agent works with any Gemini model (
gemini-2.0-flash,gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Vultr tools in your ADK agent.
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams
# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
connection_params=SseServerParams(
url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)
)
# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
name="Vultr_agent",
model="gemini-2.0-flash",
instruction="You have access to Vultr tools via MCP.",
