Automate full end-to-end emissions processing in a pipeline.

Build an automated job that first creates the necessary data container using `create_upload`. Next, use `list_uploads` to get all existing IDs, then loop through them, appending activity records via `upload_data_records`. Finally, run `validate_upload` and submit with `submit_upload` for background processing. This entire sequence works headless. It's perfect for a cron job or GitHub Action where you need to calculate emissions without any GUI interaction.

Check status and retrieve reports from the CLI.

When running in CI/CD, tracking progress is key. After submitting data, use `get_task_status` until the job completes. For final outputs, run `list_reports` to find the required report ID. Then, execute `get_report` to pipe the formatted climate data directly into a file or another script for further processing. The CLI approach lets you handle large volumes of data and process results without worrying about timeouts.

Validate and update activity records programmatically.

Before submitting sensitive emissions data, run `list_measurements` to see the current calculated values. If an error is found, you can correct it using `update_upload_data_record`. This requires knowing the specific record ID from `list_upload_data_records`. This mechanism lets you write robust scripts that self-correct data inputs before they are submitted to Watershed Climate.

Setup guide

Set up Watershed Climate MCP in Claude Code

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code CLI installed (npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Run the add command

Open your terminal and run the command shown on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. Use --scope user to make it available across all projects.

  2. 2

    Verify the connection

Start a Claude Code session and type /mcp to list connected servers. You should see watershed-climate-mcp with a green status indicator.

  3. 3

    Start using tools

Ask Claude Code something like "Check my latest Watershed Climate transactions." It will automatically discover and invoke the available Watershed Climate tools.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http watershed-climate-mcp https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp

Common questions about Watershed Climate MCP in Claude Code

Run `list_inventories` first. This command pulls a comprehensive list of your organization's historical GHG inventories, including the year and status for each Scope 1, 2, and 3 measurement.
You must use `create_upload` first. Then you upload records via `upload_data_records`, validate using `validate_upload`, and finally trigger the calculation engine with `submit_upload`. It's a strict sequence.
Use `list_reduction_targets` to fetch all defined goals. You can then inspect the baseline year, target year, and required percentage drop for compliance checking.
First, list available reports using `list_reports`. Once you have the ID, call `get_report` to retrieve the full structured data payload for that disclosure framework.
This server manages activity data records. Specifically, it handles raw input fields like activity type, quantity, unit, and date ranges from the `upload_data_records` tool.
