Automating Site Publishing

Need a whole site live? You can trigger the final deployment using `publish_site`. This function handles the full production push, making sure your design changes actually get seen by users. It's great for pipelines that run after content updates. An agent can first call `update_collection_item` and then, in the next step, use `publish_site` to deploy everything automatically.

Managing Content Collections

When you need an agent to manage site content, start with listing what's available. You can check all accessible collections via `list_collections`, then grab the actual records using `list_collection_items`. From there, you build out the write flow. The chain runs: first, use `get_user` for authentication context; second, call `create_collection_item`; and finally, maybe `update_collection_item` if a quick fix is needed.

Gathering Site Structure Details

Before writing code, you need to know what's there. This MCP Server lets your agent list everything from the root pages (`list_pages`) down to all individual sites (`list_sites`). This info is critical for planning. You can check domain availability with `list_domains` or get core information about a specific project using `get_site`. It gives the full map of what's running on Webflow.

Setup guide

Set up Webflow MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes Webflow tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "webflow-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent Webflow transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about Webflow MCP in LangChain

Your agent runs a sequence: first, it uses `list_sites` to find the correct project ID. Next, it calls `get_site` with that ID to pull all necessary configuration details. This gives your chain everything it needs to proceed.
Absolutely. You'll use the multi-step process: first, `list_collections` identifies the right content area. Then, you can call `create_collection_item`, passing all the necessary data payload into that single tool step.
You simply incorporate `publish_site` at the end of your chain. Once an agent confirms all content is correct, the final, reliable action is triggering the production deployment using this MCP Server.
You use `get_user` early in your pipeline. This ensures that any subsequent actions—like publishing or creating content—are authenticated with the correct user permissions, keeping your workflow secure.
This server handles site metadata (domains), CMS collections (list/create/update items), and core site configurations. It's all about structural, publishable content.
