Autonomous Research using the MCP Server

You assign an agent to research a target. This agent uses `get_whois_record` to pull domain intelligence, then passes that raw data to a second 'Analysis' agent for interpretation. The process runs without human intervention. The specialized agents collaborate, allowing you to build complex operations like automated competitive analysis.

Coordinating Data Validation with CrewAI

You can set up multiple agents to validate data. Agent A checks the IP address using `get_ip_geolocation`, and Agent B independently validates a given email using `verify_email`. The monitor agent watches both streams, ensuring that all necessary checks are complete before escalating or finalizing the report.

Acting on Availability Checks with the MCP Server

A final action agent takes over. After the research crew validates a target domain's ownership status using `get_whois_record`, this agent checks if it is available via `check_domain_availability`. This creates an end-to-end operational pipeline: Research -> Validate -> Act.

Setup guide

Set up WhoisXML MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke WhoisXML tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="WhoisXML Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze WhoisXML data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct WhoisXML access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent WhoisXML transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about WhoisXML MCP in CrewAI

You assign a research agent to use `get_whois_record`. This agent performs the tool call, and its output automatically becomes shared memory for subsequent agents in your crew.
It provides domain records, IP geolocation data, and email verification status. These tools allow your specialized agents to gather highly diverse data points for analysis.
Yes. You define a multi-agent crew where one agent researches the target domain, another verifies its IP location, and a third acts on the combined findings. It’s fully autonomous.
Yes. Every tool provides typed JSON output. This structure is critical because it allows agents to reliably read and pass specific pieces of information—like a domain name or an IP address—between roles.
This server touches domain records, IP geolocation, and email addresses. The agents use this data to perform checks; it's never stored by your system unless you explicitly save the output.
