How to Use the Zammad MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Manage Zammad workflows directly from your OpenAI Agents SDK agent.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Zammad MCP to OpenAI Agents SDK
Create your Vinkius account to connect Zammad to OpenAI Agents SDK and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build ticketing system actions.
The `create_ticket` tool lets your agent generate a new Zammad ticket instantly. Need to modify an existing issue? Use `update_ticket` to change details on any active record. You also have control over related content; run `list_ticket_articles` and then use `create_ticket_article` to add context directly to the thread.
Manage system users and groups.
Your agent can handle user lifecycle management. It uses `create_user` for onboarding or `data_privacy_delete_user` when an account needs scrubbing. This is safer than a direct delete. Don't forget group permissions; run `list_groups` to see all available teams, and use `get_group` to pull specific details on any single one.
Audit and retrieve ticket data.
Need a full picture of an issue? The `get_ticket` tool retrieves the complete history for any Zammad ticket. You can also use `search_tickets` to find tickets based on keywords or criteria. Checking metadata is easy; run `list_tags` to see all available tags, then apply them with `add_tag` to categorize objects accurately.
Set up Zammad MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
openai-agentspackage (pip install openai-agents) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install the SDK
Run
pip install openai-agentsto install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed. - 2
Connect via SSE transport
Use
MCPServerSsewith your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Zammad tools at runtime. - 3
Create your Agent
Pass the MCP to
Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Zammad tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically. - 4
Run the agent
Call
Runner.run(agent, prompt)to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Zammad tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse
async def main():
async with MCPServerSse(
url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
) as server:
agent = Agent(
name="Zammad Agent",
instructions="You have access to Zammad tools.",
mcp_servers=[server],
)
result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
print(result.final_output)
asyncio.run(main()) Independent Platform Disclaimer: Vinkius is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, verified by, or otherwise authorized by Zammad.
