Inject live data directly into your code editor.

When you need real-time information, use `search_vectors`. Your agent calls this tool, gets the actual API response—not fake stub data—and injects that context right where you're coding. This means you aren't leaving Cursor to look up facts; the AI finds them and puts them in your code block.

Structure and prepare data for feature development.

Before writing a new function that relies on external data, use `insert_entities` to stage it. This lets you build out the necessary context right within your project scope. Alternatively, if the initial data set is wrong, just run `delete_entities` and start fresh.

Understand existing vector index schemas.

Need to know what collections already exist? Use `list_collections`. If you're working on a specific part of the system, running `describe_collection` gives you all the required schema details. This clarity prevents guesswork and keeps your code stable.

Setup guide

Set up Zilliz Cloud MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Zilliz Cloud MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Zilliz Cloud transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Zilliz Cloud tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Zilliz Cloud MCP in Cursor

Simply enable Agent mode in Cursor. The AI will detect that it needs external information, call the `search_vectors` tool, and then incorporate those real results into the code it suggests for you.
Absolutely. You can use `create_collection` to build new indexes or `drop_collection` if a test run proves an index is obsolete. It's all managed right from your code context.
You use `describe_collection`. This tool pulls up every detail about an existing index—its dimensions, its metadata fields, everything you need to know before writing code against it.
Yes. The `query_entities` tool lets your agent filter results using specific metadata criteria. This means the search is highly focused, giving you precise context for development.
This server touches structured data (entities) and vector embeddings. Since your agent operates within your private project scope, the live data retrieval remains contained, giving you control over what hits your code.
